If  You chose to start building Your own Cobra based to kit R - 12 please keep in mind following:

Standard chassis foreseen for GM 5,7L smallblock V8. When You would like to use an other type of engine, it necessary to check very carefully if it fits under the hood of this car. Classical Cobra is designed for carburetor engine V8 and it means that highest point of engine is air filter which is fitting perfectly under the scoop. Modern engines have higheer intake and usually front side is quite high. For this reason we always recommend to use V configured engines - they are lower than inline engines. One way so solve this problem to extend the scoop on the hood.

Also we recommend to use manual gearbox or shorter automatic transmission. Difference of length between manual and automatic transmissions can be more than 20 cm. it means that if You decide to use longer gearbox the engine will placed more front and weight distribution will change to worse.

Next thing You have to note that there is difference tracks width in front and rear. Classic Cobra's rear track width is wider than front. For R-12 You have to use in front 7" and rear 8" wide wheels. Recommended offset 35 - 38 mm.
